A Hellesdon couple on holiday in Las Vegas have described the terrifying moment a shooter started gunning down concert-goers outside their hotel.

Jill Seddigh and husband Farz were staying at the Luxor Hotel, on the main strip, when the shooting began, in an attack which has seen 58 people killed and more than 500 injured.

The couple were having dinner in the hotel's ground floor food court at about 10.10pm local time when mass panic broke out.

Speaking to Just Regional, which publishes magazines in Broadland, north Norfolk and Norwich, Mrs Seddigh, 51, said: 'So many people just came running in, some screaming.

'We didn't hear the shooting but there was just absolute panic. They were running all over the place shouting that there was a shooter out there, and screaming to everybody to get down.

'Farz grabbed me and told me to get under the table. It was the most terrifying thing I have ever been through.'

The gunman, who police have named as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, had opened fire on an outdoor country music festival from the 32nd floor of the nearby Mandalay Bay Hotel, which is next door to the Luxor.

Security staff quickly appeared in the food court and ushered worried diners through a fire exit to the lifts.

The couple were told to lock themselves in their fifth-floor room and make as little noise as possible while the hotel was put on lock down.

Mrs Seddigh said: 'People were sitting on the floor crying. One girl was covered in blood from someone who had been shot.

'I asked her if she was OK and she said she was. She was on her mobile desperately trying to contact help.'

The couple, who own UK Blinds on Fifers Lane, said they could see the festival site from their bedroom window but, in darkness, only police cars and helicopters flying overhead were visible.

They said: 'There's no way we can sleep. We're following what's happening on Fox News. Police are swarming everywhere.

'We're waiting to be told when we can come out. To be honest, I'm just feeling completely shocked – I can't take it all in.'

They were left to wait in silence for several hours while emergency services handled the incident.

Mr and Mrs Seddigh had arrived in Las Vegas on Sunday and were due to stay there until this Friday.
