The drunken theft of a £25 pool cue from a pub has left a north Norwich man facing a £195 bill.
Marcus Blevins, of Dakin Road, helped himself to the cue from behind the unattended bar of the West End Retreat off Old Palace Road on June 20.
He was filmed on CCTV and recognised by staff when he returned on July 14, fleeing the pub but dropping a hat which was examined forensically to identify the 23-year-old.
At Norwich Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Blevins pleaded guilty to theft.
His solicitor, Gavin Cowe, said Blevins had been drinking and “even in sobriety [the cue] was never in his possession.”
District Judge Peter Veits fined Blevins £70 and ordered him to pay £85 costs, a £15 surcharge and £24.99 for the lost cue.
