Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault, which took place on Sunday, May 25.

Between 8.30pm and 8.45pm, the girl in her late teens was walking along an alleyway between Yew Tree Road and Cyprus Road when she became aware she was being followed by a group of four men.

As she approached Cyprus Road, one of the men grabbed her by the hand and pulled her back into the alleyway before grabbing and squeezing her breasts and buttocks, while the rest of the group tried to prevent her from escaping.

However, she managed to break free and run off.

The offenders are described as all white and aged between 20 and 30 years of age.

DC Lisa Cook, Thetford CID, said: “This is a rare offence for Attleborough causing distress to the victim. As a result of the incident local officers will be increasing their patrols in that area to offer reassurance to her and other residents.

“In addition, I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has information concerning it.”

DC Cook can be contacted on 101.
