The male youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court - sitting as a youth court - charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to another 17-year-old overnight between Sunday and Monday.

An application for bail was made but rejected by the magistrates.

The teenager spoke through an interpreter and appeared before the court with bandaged hands .

The victim suffered serious wounds to his shoulder and elbow but was discharged from hospital on Tuesday.

The defendant will appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court again on Thursday, November 8, for a committal hearing to crown court.

A police spokesman said officers from Great Yarmouth CID are investigating the incident.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) said they were called at just before 10.30pm on Sunday with an ambulance on scene at just after 10.45pm.

He confirmed two teenagers were taken to hospital, one with a serious injury to his back, the other less serious to his arm. Neither was thought to be life-threatening.
