A 17-year-old boy suffered an injury to his nose and a burn to his face after he was assaulted in Bevan Street East, Lowestoft, at about 2pm on Friday, August 31.
The teenager was with a 16-year-old friend near the Station Square end of the road when they were approached by two men, described as white and in their late teens to early 20s.
A verbal dispute occurred before the 17-year-old was assaulted – with a cigarette being used to cause the burn to his cheek.
One had short dark hair and a dark beard and wore a blue jumper, jeans and trainers while the other was also casually dressed and had a moustache.
Police are investigating the incident, which may have been a case of mistaken identity, and officers are asking anyone who may have seen the assault, or anyone with information about the two offenders, to call PC 1324 Sargeant at Lowestoft on 101.
