A teenage girl was kicked to the ground, and again in the stomach, in an attempted robbery, police said.

The assault took place on the footpath next to the River Wensum in Norwich, near Barn Road, between 4.10pm and 4.20pm on Saturday, January 18.

Police said that an unknown man tried to grab the 16 year old’s coat pocket, which contained her phone, and tried to get the phone but failed.

Police said that as she got up, she was hit in the face by the man, causing a cut lip.

She then kicked him, and he ran off with a second man who was with him in the direction of Westwick Street.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, saw any suspicious behaviour or has knowledge of the incident should contact Norwich CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
