Four people will appear in court over the next few weeks after being arrested as part of an operation to target prolific criminals.

Thursday saw Norfolk police carrying on its operation Octane campaign, launched in October, with raids and spot checks on cars around Norwich.

Officers, PCSOs and members of the Special Constabulary took part in dawn raids across Norwich while roadside checks were carried out using ANPR in the north of the city.

A number of arrests were made and one man appeared before magistrates this morning charged with theft of a bicycle.

A 30-year-old arrested in Bishopgate yesterday has been charged with possession of heroin and will appear before magistrates on Thursday, December 20.

A 39-year-old, was arrested in the Cotman Fields area and charged with theft of a laptop. He has been bailed to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on the same day.

An 18-year-old woman arrested in connection with criminal damage following an incident at the YMCA in Bethel Street has been cautioned.

And a 17 year old from the Norwich area has been charged with burglary of a shed and will appear at Norwich Youth Court and will also appear on Thursday, December 20.

Assistant chief constable Gareth Wilson said the day of action had been successful in targeting prolific offenders and sent a clear message that criminal activity will not be tolerated.
