Thieves have stolen six tonnes of scrap metal from a business near North Walsham.

The haul was taken from Carl Bird Skip Hire in Sandy Hills, Worstead, sometime between 5pm on Monday May 13 and 6.30am on Tuesday May 14.

Three one tonne storage bags of scrap, a one tonne bag containing household cable, a one tonne bag filled with copper piping and a one tonne bag of brass fittings, including door handles and hinges, were taken.

The bags had been locked in a secure container which appeared to have been forced open.

Police believe a vehicle must have been used in the theft and they are keen to speak to anyone who may have spotted any suspicious behaviour or vehicles in the area, or anyone who has been offered items for sale.

An old grey 4x4 vehicle, with a distinctive rear exhaust, is thought to have been in the area and officers would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard this vehicle.
