Police are questioning a 36-year-old man this morning in connection with a robbery which happened in Norwich last night.

Shortly before 10pm a man entered Premier Stores on Drayton Road where he asked for a £10 electricity top-up and picked up two bottles of wine.

As the items were placed in a bag, the man threatened staff with a broken bottle before grabbing the bag and running out of the shop.

Two women were working in the store at the time of the incident and were uninjured but left shaken.

The suspect fled the scene and inquiries led officers to Berners Close where police forced entry to a flat where property, believed to be stolen, was recovered and a man was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

The 36-year-old remains in custody at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre where he will be questioned by detectives.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information concerning it.
