A shop employee dialled 999 after a man was slashed across the face and stood bleeding outside his store in Norwich.

The member of staff, who works at the Premier Store, off Bowers Avenue in Mile Cross, said the victim had suffered a cut near to his eye.

He said it happened shortly before 11am on Saturday near to a block of flats above a shopping parade on the junction to Lefroy Road.

The employee, who did not wish to be named, said he was alerted to the injured man, who was in his 40s, by another customer and ran outside to help.

'He had blood everywhere, it was all over his shirt and jacket,' the employee said.

'He asked me to call police and an ambulance.'

Other witnesses said around five police cars were sent to the scene, along with an ambulance.

The employee said cut was around one-and-a-half inches long, near to his left eye.
