Police have released CCTV footage which shows a man snatching a wallet out of the hands of his vulnerable victim, just moments after the thief had helped him up from a fall.

The victim, who is in his 50s and uses a stick to walk, was making his way along St Martin’s Road in Norwich when he had a fall.

A man and a woman helped him up and walked him to the gate of his property in The Watering.

The victim then got his wallet out of his pocket, and the man snatched it from his hand before running off with the woman back towards St Martin’s Road.

Investigating officer PC Holly Harwood said a previous appeal about the theft, which happened at around 4pm on Saturday, April 5, had failed to provide any leads.

She said: “We’re hoping that by releasing the footage someone will recognise this man and woman and come forward.

“This couple deliberately targeted a vulnerable man, gaining his trust by helping him home before taking advantage of the situation and stealing his wallet.

“The victim has been left very distressed by what happened and I would urge anyone with information which could assist the investigation to come forward.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Harwood at the Norwich North Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
