A town centre clock tower will be transformed into an old fashioned police box next week for residents to get to know their local officers.

Sheringham Safer Neighbourhood Team will be holding the event by the Station Road landmark from Monday to Saturday between 9am-5pm.

People will be able to speak to officers about any police matters including advice on setting up a Homewatch scheme, ways to contact the team, home security and how to get more involved in local Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel (SNAP) meetings, among other issues.

Free cycle security bicycle marking will also be available during the week and on Saturday there will be a visit from Norfolk Special Constabulary mounted officers as well as the Norfolk and Suffolk Roads Policing Unit and its Lotus car.

For further information on the event or to contact Sheringham Safer Neighbourhood Team about any crime issues, call 101. Alternatively visit

  • Why is it necessary to go too these lengths and expense to do this and once again obscure the town clock? At least the police will be on hand to have a word with the yobs who usually occupy it.
