Seven people stopped in Norwich park as police up patrols to combat illegal drug use

Several people were stopped in a Norwich park last night as police upped patrols to combat illegal drug activitiy.
It comes after local residents complained about anti-social behaviour in Jenny Lind park, off Vauxhall Street, concerning drug use near the public toilets.
Additional patrols have been put in place and last night officers stopped and searched seven people in the park, three of whom were dealt with for cannabis possession. Two males received a street caution for possession while one was bailed to be interviewed later todaySgt Mark Shepherd, from the Norwich South Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We’ve already had some positive results, albeit for very small amounts of cannabis, however our increased patrols will continue.
“Illegal drug activity and associated anti-social behaviour can have a detrimental impact on local communities and we will continue to listen to residents’ concerns to address these issues.”
