A second man has been arrested following an incident in Beccles where a 41-year-old man sustained cuts, bruising and a possible fractured eye socket.

A 20-year-old man from Harleston was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) on January 14 following the altercation in London Road, close to the junction with Alexandra Road. The incident happened at about 1.50am on January 4, as the 41-year-old walked along with a friend.

The second man – a 19-year-old from Beccles – was arrested on Monday on suspicion of wounding.

Both men have been interviewed by officers in connection with the incident, with the 20-year-old being bailed to return to police on February 14 and the 19-year-old bailed until March 7, pending further enquiries.

Police are continuing to ask anyone who may have seen the incident to call Waveney CID on 101.
