I want to complain about this content:

  • The EDL are not welcome anywhere but they are as entitled as anyone to express an opinion as anyone. Chloe Smith should have spoken out when Norwich Council decided to bar distribution of a pamphlet which even the police did not think was illegal. She could also put her name to the campaign to have Section 5 of the public order act struck off the statute books so that insulting someone does not lead to prosecution. It is quite possible to have free speech without inciting hatred but impossible to place administering laws like Section 5 in the hands of some police officers and many bureaucrats who are incapable of doing anything but erring on the side of the complainant.
