POLICE have issued a reminder to householders, urging locals to remain vigilant and not leave their homes in darkness after a house was burgled in Carlton Colville.

Witnesses are being sought after a burglary at a home in Tudor Walk in Carlton Colville between 5.30pm on Sunday, January 6 and 12.35pm on Friday, January 11.

A Louis Vuitton purse with a large gold buckle and a quantity of cash was stolen after someone gained entry to the home and made a search.

Detectives investigating the incident are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious, anyone who may have been offered the purse since or anyone with information about the burglar or burglars to call Det Con 914 Brotherston at Lowestoft CID on 101.

A police spokesman said: “Officers are also renewing pleas for residents not to leave their homes in darkness. If you are going to be away for a few days please consider using a lights on timer device – available for around £5 from most DIY stores – that can be set to come on during the darker evenings to make it appear there is someone at home.

“If you are just going out for the evening please leave a light or two – and a radio if you can – on inside.”
