A window was broken and a fence panel was damaged at the Church Street block in Holt between 6pm on Monday and 8.45am the following day.

The town council-owned toilet, off the High Street, was locked at the time and the crime was reported to the police by a cleaner.

Elaine Oliver, council clerk, said between £250-£300 worth of damage was caused.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the vandalism should contact PCSO Rachel Howard at Holt Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Members of the town council heard at this month’s meeting that between January 13 and February 10 the police recorded nine crimes.

These included three incidents of criminal damage; one assault; two thefts; one breach of an ASBO; one case of harassment; and one burglary.

Councillors heard there had been a significant reduction in calls to the police officers in the Holt area over that period, the majority being a reduction in calls about anti-social behaviour.

Officers of the Holt Safer Neighbourhood Team are currently focusing on giving advice about preventing heating oil thefts.

Tips include putting up fencing around tanks, checking oil levels and putting up security lighting.

  • Sadly, Holt has it's share of muppets, HMD seems to be tagged on much that is done....one can only believe that the abbreviation stands for Holt Mentally Disturbed?

  • What happens 'if' the perpetrator is caught? They'll be told that if their nice they can do restorative justice and put it back together again using materials supplied by tax payers. Where is the justice in that?
