About 13 prisoners were involved in the disturbance at HMP Wayland yesterday, which left some cells damaged on one wing.

A prison service spokesman said: “Specially-trained prison staff intervened to swiftly resolve it and all the prisoners involved were relocated.

“An investigation is underway and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.”

A Norfolk police spokesman confirmed that a joint investigation is being carried out with the prison service in relation to the disturbance, and the inquiries are ongoing.
