The policing commander for Breckland has bid farewell to the district to take on a new role.

Chief Inspector Ady Porter, who became commander for Breckland last summer, will now be working under the deputy chief constable in the joint performance and analysis department at Norfolk police headquarters in Wymondham.

The post of commander for Breckland has been filled by Temporary Chief Inspector Paul Wheatley.

T/Chief Inspector Wheatley, who has previously worked in Thetford and Dereham, said: “I have a passion and dedication for Breckland not only as police officer, but also as a resident raising a family in the district.

“I am relishing this new challenge and intend to continue the hard work of my predecessor in driving down crime and anti-social behaviour across Breckland.”
