The animals got loose and were found on the A1065 at Litcham, near Dereham, where the road meets the B1145, at around 8.45pm.

A police spokesman said the sheep had caused “a bit of chaos” but that the landowner had been contacted and the livestock rounded up before any of them came to any harm.

The road was cleared by around 9.10pm.
