A would-be burglar fled after he was disturbed while trying to knock out beading around a double-glazed kitchen window yesterday lunchtime.

Police used a helicopter to try to track the suspect after he ran through the rear gate of the home on Watersfield Way in Dereham sometime between 1.10pm and 1.20pm on Monday February 18, but did not catch him.

The resident heard a knocking sounds coming from the kitchen when he returned home, and saw a man outside using a “chisel-type implement” to knock out the window.

Police said the man was white, about 25 years old, about 5ft 11in tall and of slim build, and had short, dark hair which was shaved around the side, and had dark stubble.

He was wearing a dark top with a hood, a dark-coloured tracksuit with a dark cord and dark coloured trainers, and was carrying a small black tool bag.
