Two burglaries that saw cash stolen from Dereham homes within hours of each of other were linked, police believe.

Both incidents, which happened last Friday afternoon, saw thieves break into the properties by smashing windows.

The first burglary happened between 1.45pm and 3.40pm at a home on Hoe Road, where thieves used a garden ornament to break a double-glazed window at the back, before they ransacked bedrooms, stealing money from one, and left through the side kitchen door.

The second burglary happened between 2pm and 3.45pm on the same afternoon, when burglars smashed the front living room window and took a safe containing an amount of money and a jewellery box with gold earrings, rings and chains.

Police asked anyone who saw any suspicious activity during the times on Friday September 14 or has knowledge of either burglary to contact DC Nicola Gaughan at Theftord CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
