The 16-year-old boy skated across Vera Road at the junction with Salhouse Road, between the Post Office and the chip shop, and crossed in front of a van.

The driver stopped to speak with the victim, who apologised. The van driver then grabbed the boy around the throat but let go after a woman confronted him. The suspect then left the scene in a white van, believed to be a Citroen Nemo van, which had red logos on the side and rear.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following the incident which happened between 4.30pm and 4.55pm on Tuesday, January 28 and are keen to trace the woman who intervened. The woman had been in the Post Office and was driving a silver Landrover. Anyone with information should contact PC Keith Green at Sprowston Police Station on 101.
