The two offences took place within minutes of each other on Friday.

The first happened on Rouen Road, near the junction with Thorn Lane, at 5.55am, when a man tried to steal the belongings of a man in his 20s. The man made a verbal threat to the victim, though nothing was stolen.

A 16-year-old boy was punched in the face in the second incident, just minutes later on Horns Lane, when he was told to hand over his rucksack containing an Olympus digital camera and iPhone.

Police say the male robber is white, of thin build and was wearing a navy hooded top.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
