Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary and an attempted burglary in north Norwich, and say the two could be linked.
Jewellery and electrical items were stolen during a burglary in Albany Road, west of Magdalen Road, on Tuesday.
Between 10am and 7.50pm, burglars got into the house through an unsecured bathroom window then carried out an untidy search of all rooms. They took several items of jewellery including a charm bracelet, a silver watch and a Samsung netbook.
In a separate incident, burglars attempted to break into a house in Lawson Road, east of Magdalen Road, by forcing a gate on to an alleyway. It happened between 10am on Monday and 5pm on Tuesday, and they damaged the kitchen window and back door by trying to force them with a tool.
A police spokesman said part of officers’ enquiries would be establishing any links between the two.
Norwich has seen a surge in burglaries in recent months, with 121 reported in January and December, compared to just 47 in the same period 12 months before.
Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed anything out of the ordinary around either incident.
