A police cordon is in place after an assault in a close in Norwich in the early hours of the morning.
Police said today they cordoned off the area in The Denes, near to where Thorpe Road meets Yarmouth Road, so they could carry out forensic work as it was first feared the 26-year-old victim had suffered a fractured skull.
The assault happened at 4am this morning (Sunday).
Sgt Simon Atherton, Norfolk Constabulary control room supervisor, said: “The reason we sealed off the area was that it was initially thought the victim’s injuries were serious. However, once he was taken to hospital and assessed it became clear they were not as bad as we thought and our enquiries are continuing this morning.
“We will complete our forensic work at the scene and once that is done we will be able to lift that seal down at The Denes.”
He said the victim had suffered facial injuries and added: “Being a small residential close we had a number of calls about the incident from local residents, however we would always encourage anyone with information to contact us by calling 101.”
