Officers were called to a home south of the Maid Marian pub by the junction with the outer ring road by fire crews at 12.20am.

A fire crew from Carrow had been called out just after midnight to reports of a car blaze.

The car, a blue Vauxhall Vectra, was burnt out and police sealed off the home nearby at around 1am amid fears the fire would spread to a house.

Neighbours reported being woken by a loud bang before midnight.

Norwich CID are investigating the suspected arson. They have taken the car away for forensic examination.
