A security attendant is thought to have been threatened with a screwdriver while a robbery took place in Norwich this morning.

Police officers from Norwich CID are currently investigating a robbery which took place at Prince of Wales Road at about 8am today.

A Norfolk police spokesman said: 'At approximately 8:10am, three men in dark clothing and wearing balaclavas forced a security attendant, who was restocking a cash machine at the bottom of Prince of Wales Road, to hand over a quantity of cash. They then fled the scene with a fourth man in a grey estate car.

It is believed that they threatened the security attendant with a screwdriver, no other weapons are thought to have been used.'

A woman who was driving to work at the time and wanted to remain anonymous saw the robbery take place and contacted the police.

She spoke of her shock at what she had seen.

She said: 'I was driving into work at 8.08am down Prince of Wales Road.

'The security van was parked on the right-hand side of the cash point next to the bin.

'I saw three guys try to bundle the security attendant into the grey door next to the cash machine. I couldn't see much of two of the guys but the third guy was trying to hit the security attendant with a brick.

'I called the police and told them what was happening.

'It's horrible. I hope the attendant is alright.'
