A Norwich woman is facing 24 charges of abuse offences against children.

Marie Black, 33, is facing two dozen charges, including four charges of rape, five of sexual assault, seven of inciting children to engage in sexual activity and five of ill-treating children.

She is also facing two allegations of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and one of inciting a child to look at pornography.

The allegations involve five different children.

Black appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court this morning. She initially gave her address as France, but her solicitor John Evans stated that she was now living at Atkinson Close in Bowthorpe.

She did not enter any pleas and was bailed to appear at Norwich Crown Court on Friday, June 27.

The court heard that she had recently returned from living in France and one of the conditions of her bail was that her passport should be surrendered.

She will also have to report to Bethel Street police station three times a week.

She is the ninth person to be charged as part of an investigation into alleged abuse of children, with her 24 charges bringing the total tally of charges to 100.

Eight people - including seven from Norwich - appeared at Norwich Crown Court in the spring.

Michael Rogers, 53, of Defoe Way, Romford, Essex, is charged with 19 offences including rape, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual assault, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and assault.

Jason Adams, 43, of Catton Court, St Faiths Road, Norwich, faces 14 offences including rape, sexual assault and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

Carol Stadler, 59, of Atkinson Road, Norwich, is accused of 11 offences including sexual assault, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

Anthony Stadler, 63, of Church Close, Norwich, is charged with 12 offences including rape, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and sexual assault.

Nicola Collins, 34, of Lucas Court, Norwich, faces two offences of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and sexual assault.

Andrew Collins, 51, of Lucas Court, Norwich, is accused of six offences including rape, sexual assault and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

Judith Fuller, 31, of Gertrude Road, Norwich, is charged with six offences of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Denise Barnes, 43, of Wycliffe Road, Norwich, is accused of six offences including sexual assault and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

They were all given conditional bail.
