A woman who was arrested in connection with a stabbing in Norwich on New Year’s Eve has been released on bail.

A man in his 50s was found injured in Magdalen Street, near the flyover, at around 11pm on Monday<31>. Police were called shortly before 11pm, initially to reports that a woman had been attacked by St Saviour Church.

They arrived to find the injured man by the red phone box opposite the RSPCA charity shop on the street.

He had wounds to his face and throat and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

A police spokesman said a 42-year-old woman arrested in connection with the incident has been released on bail until 15 February while police continue with their inquiries.

The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.
