The jury in trial of a couple accused of torturing and killing a former bus conductor in his own home before stealing his bank card will resume deliberations tomorrow after being sent out to consider its verdict.

The body of 67-year-old Barry Reeve was discovered by officers at a property on Corton Road, Norwich on February 26 last year – two weeks after it is said he was attacked.

Kelly Louise Barnes, 32, and Jodie Barnes, formerly Ramsbottom, 31, who are civil partners and from Bixley Close, both deny murdering Mr Reeve.

Both defendants claim the other was responsible for the killing.

The jury of eight women and four men failed to reach a verdict today after being sent out at 1.20pm following Judge Peter Jacobs’ summing up.

They were sent home just before 4.10pm but asked to return at 10.20am tomorrow when deliberations will resume.

The trial continues.
