The director of a former Norwich-based architectural firm has pleaded guilty to fraud.

Andrew Warman admitted abusing his position as director of Griffin Green Ltd by receiving payments which were meant for the company between May 1, 2013 and September 29, 2014.

The 52-year-old, formerly of Bunwell Street in Bunwell, Norfolk, pleaded guilty to the offence at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday.

He had been due to stand trial on three fraud charges altogether, but after pleading guilty to one of the indictments, the other two were dropped.

Prosecutor William Carter told the court that having spoken to Warman’s co-director, it was agreed his plea gave the court “adequate” power in relation to his sentence, his disqualification as company director and any future investigation into how he benefitted.

He said: “Given the fact all these things are achievable, the crown takes the view that it is acceptable.”

Warman was also charged with using company money for his own purposes between May 1, 2013 and September 29, 2014, and also abusing his position with another company called Harrison Harris Ltd by using company money for his own purposes between September 20, 2013 and September 29, 2014.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Mr Carter said those two charges will lie on his file.

Charlene Sumnall, representing Warman, said the defendant now lived and worked in London.

She added that he was suffering from ill health.

Warman, who now lives at Loveridge Mews, Kilburn, will be sentenced on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.

He was granted bail by judge Stephen Holt.
