A Norwich City supporter who was arrested for allegedly hurling racist abuse at a Fulham player will face no further action - after an investigation concluded they had been misheard.

Norfolk police arrested the fan at the end of the Canaries’ 3-1 Carrow Road defeat to the west London play-off chasers.

A police spokesman said: “I can confirm that a Norwich City Football Club fan was arrested at the football ground yesterday on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.”

But he said no further action would be taken against the supporter, after it was concluded that the person who had reported the fan had misheard what had been said.
