Police are continuing to investigate after a man in his 20s was assaulted in Thetford on Monday night.

Officers carried out searches of the riverbank yesterday in a bid to establish where the incident took place, however nothing has been found which can assist the investigation.

Police were called to an address in St Giles Lane at about 9.30pm on Monday by the ambulance service who were treating an injured man at the address.

The man, who is Russian and in his 20s, had previously been in the river and was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries. He remains in hospital. Enquiries are continuing and police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area near the river at the time to contact police.
