Fire crews from Attleborough, East Harling and the Aerial Ladder Platorm (ALP) from Earlham were called to reports of a fire in the chimney and roof insulation at a private house on Attleborough Road at about 8.10pm.

Police also attended and have closed the B1077 “in both directions” because the Aerial Ladder Platform was blocking the road.

A spokesman for the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said it was not a big fire but proved “difficult to get to in the chimney” which is why the ALP had to be called.

Firefighters used chimney equipment, hose reel jets, a stirrup pump and a thermal image camera to deal with the incident.

A police spokesman said no-one was injured as a result of the fire and everyone at the address was accounted for.

The spokesman said: “We were there supporting the fire brigade while they made the property safe.”
