The theft took place in the King’s Lynn Minster, on the Saturday Market Place, last Sunday (May 4) between 9am and 2.30pm.

The glass box, which held the small amount of cash was damaged in the process.

Canon Christopher Ivory said: “We haven’t yet had a chance to look at the CCTV. It was a small amount but it’s miserable and unfortunate but you have just got to get on with it.

“We empty the box a few times a day but we don’t usually get much trouble. Overall we get very little vandalism.”

Police are appealing for anyone that may have seen anything or may have any further information.

Contact PC Tom Metcalfe at King’s Lynn Police Station on 101.
