A 23-year-old man underwent surgery today having received slash wounds and other serious injuries after being attacked in Cromer.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after the incident, on the Runton Road bowling green.

The man was walking along Runton Road at 12.25am with two male friends when they were approached by a group of three to four people, at least one believed to be female.

The group made off and emergency services were called to the scene. He was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where he underwent surgery but he has since been released.
