Man suffers serious wounds in stabbing in Thetford

A 25-year-old man was found with two serious stab wounds to his abdomen at the junction of York Way and Canterbury Way in Thetford on New Year’s Eve.

A volunteer doctor from emergency medical charity, Suffolk Accident Rescue Service, was mobilised to the incident at 9.59pm.

The injured man, from Lithuania, was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

This morning, a police spokesman said the victim was in a stable condition and officers were investigating.
