The 37-year-old was in a takeaway on Thorpe Road, near the railway station, between 2.45am and 3.15am on Sunday, February 3 when he was verbally abused by three men. Two of the men then knocked him to the floor and assaulted him. He suffered facial and head injuries including having an earring ripped out, and bruising to his body.

PC Steve Payne, investigating officer said: “This was a nasty assault which was unprovoked and has left the victim badly beaten and shaken. A number of people would have been in the area getting food or making their way home from a night out, and I am keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or has information about the three males.”

Contact PC Payne at Bethel Street Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
