A man appeared in court today charged with attempted murder following a New Year’s Eve stabbing in Norwich.

David Ian Roberts, 50, of Bullard Road, Norwich, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

There was no bail application and he was remanded in custody to next appear at Norwich Crown Court on January 21.

It follows an incident in Magdalen Street at about 11pm where a 51-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his face and throat.

He was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for treatment but has now been released.
