Man charged with burglary of empty Great Yarmouth home

A man has been charged with burglary after copper piping was stolen from an unoccupied home in Great Yarmouth.

Police were called after a neighbour noticed water leaking from the property in Wellesley Road on February 3 and discovered it had been broken into and piping removed.

The floors and ceiling of the house were also damaged.

Alan Hetherington, 25, of Gapton Hall Road, Great Yarmouth, was arrested on February 20 and interviewed by detectives, before being charged with the burglary.

He has been bailed to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court next Wednesday, March 6.
