The man was attacked by two men as another stood-by laughing in the public toilets in Old Market, between 7.30pm and 7.50pm on Friday.

A police spokesman said: “He was washing his hands at the basin when he was grabbed and pulled backwards by a male before a second male began assaulting him.

“He heard a third male laughing during the attack by the other two.”

The man was asked for money and tobacco, before tobacco was stolen from him.

He was left with cuts and bruising to his face, with minor injuries to his body.

One of the three is described as white and was wearing black and grey Nike trainers, black three-stripe tracksuit bottoms and possibly a dark top.

Anyone who was in the area around this time, or anyone with information about those involved is asked to call DC 157 Woodham at Waveney CID on 101.
