Man attacked by would-be robber armed with hammer in Gorleston

A MAN was struck on the head by a would-be robber armed with a claw hammer as he walked through Gorleston.

The victim had got off a bus at Bradwell and walked along the bus stop, past a kebab shop and into Crab Lane when he noticed a man following him.

He continued walking and was near Jasmine Green and an allotments, around two or three feet in front of the man, when he felt a blow to the back of his head.

The attacker then confronted him and demanded his phone. The victim refused and fled the scene. The offender was holding a claw hammer in his right hand.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened between 11.20pm and 11.30pm on Thursday, January 10.
