Police were alerted following reports that the home was on fire between 5pm and 7.30pm last Wednesday night (December 18).

Two fire crews from Lowestoft were called out just after 7pm on Wednesday to put out the blaze which damaged the back door and an awning above it, and caused smoke damage inside the property.

With the blaze under control by just after 7.30pm, the fire-fighters had returned to their station by 8.17pm.

The 28-year-old man was arrested by police a short time later and was interviewed before being bailed to return to police on February 2 next year.

Officers are investigating to determine what happened and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around this time.
