A man was assaulted when a group surrounded him and pushed him to the ground in Great Yarmouth.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the assault and a theft which took place in Rodney Road sometime between 11pm and midnight on Saturday, May 3.

The victim, in his 40s, was approached by a group of around four males who pushed him to the ground and stole his Samsung mobile phone.

The offenders are all described as white, between 5ft 10in and 6ft tall, of slim to medium build and all aged in their early to mid-twenties.

One was wearing a silver hooded jacket with blue and white horizontal stripes across the chest.

A second male wore dark clothes and had a ginger, stubbly beard. Both males are believed to have spoken with Eastern European accents.

The group were last seen running onto Marine Parade towards Britannia Pier.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area or who may know who was responsible for the assault.

Witnesses are asked to contact Det Con Matt Cornwall at Great Yarmouth CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
