A team of police officers was able to convince a man to climb down from a seafront building in Great Yarmouth following a tense two-hour stand off in the early hours of today.

The local man in his late 20s was reported by a member of the public at 2am “making threats and a lot of noise” from the roof of the Marina Centre.

Specialist negotiators were called but it is understood local police had talked the man down before they arrived.

The man made his way down from the scaffolding-clad building voluntarily at 4am.

He was arrested for affray and taken to the police investigation centre in Thames Link Way.
