A man has appeared in court charged with producing a controlled drug, following the discovery of a cannabis factory in Norwich.

Quan Vu, aged 48, with no given address, appeared before Norwich magistrates yesterday.

He was remanded in custody until May 9, when he will return to court for a plea and case management hearing.

As reported, police found the cannabis factory at a property in Sandy Lane at about 8pm on Saturday, May 3, as a result of local intelligence.

On entering the property around 200 cannabis plants were discovered plus cultivating equipment.

A quantity of counterfeit cash was also recovered from the property.

The plants, the cash and equipment, which included lighting and heaters, were all seized for forensic investigation.

A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
