A MAN suffered bites to his throat, arms and legs after being attacked by a dog in Great Yarmouth.

The 22 year old has had to undergo surgery following the attack near St George's Park on Sunday afternoon.

He had been walking in Nelson Road Central when he was approached by the grey Staffordshire Terrier type dog. At first it grabbed his trouser leg but when he tried to shake it off it attacked his arms, legs and throat, biting him badly.

The man was taken to the James Paget Hospital but was then transferred to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for surgery to his injuries.

No one was seen with the dog at the time and police are now trying to track down its owners and trace where it came from.

Anyone with information about the dog, the owner or the incident should call PC Gary May at Great Yarmouth on 101.
