Two people have been arrested by police after a man reported being attacked and robbed at knife-point in Bury St Edmunds town centre in the early hours of this morning.

A man told police that he had been attacked and robbed by two male attackers who brandished a knife in Hospital Road at around 3.25am this morning, a spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said.

The man reported the offence to officers at Bury St Edmunds police station. He was not injured and did not require hospital treatment, the force spokesman said.

At around 6.15am this morning, two people were detained and arrested by police who were investigating the incident.

They are believed to have been arrested on suspicion of robbery. They are now set to be questioned by officers.

The victim told police that the attackers 'went through his pockets'. Police cannot yet confirm what was taken, but it is thought a mobile phone was taken.

It is not known if the knife has been recovered.

There is no witness appeal currently.
