A man was assaulted after he tried to recover a stolen van in Gooderstone near Swaffham.

It happened at about 1.45pm on June 3 when a white Ford Transit van parked on The Street was stolen.

The theft was witnessed by the owner of the van who had been working nearby and followed in a vehicle belonging to his colleague.

After about four minutes they managed to catch up with the van and got the suspect to pull over, recovering the vehicle.

The suspect got out of the van, assaulted one of the men and got into a waiting car, a silver Peugeot 407, which drove off towards Swaffham. The victim was kicked but suffered no injury.

The suspect who took the vehicle was described as white, about 5ft 10, between 45 and 50-years-old, with grey curly long hair, glasses. He wore brown coloured clothing and was scruffy in appearance.

The second suspect, who was driving the Peugeot, was described as white, with short hair, about 5ft 3 tall and of large build.

On June 7 the Peugeot was spotted in Downham Market by police who followed the vehicle but later found it abandoned on Bridge Street in the town.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed either incident or has information concerning the identity of the suspects.

Anyone with information should contact PC Jon Turner-Evans at Thetford Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
